Apprentice Accommodation Allowance Program
The CTF provides an accommodation allowance to eligible Apprentices and Trainees living in regional WA who need to travel to attend scheduled off-the-job training with an RTO. The allowance covers the difference between the cost of accommodation per training night and the rebate paid bythe Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD).
You must be a regional Apprentice or Trainee with:
- An Active Apprenticeship or Traineeship record registered in WAAMS (DTWD’s WA Apprentice Management System)
- The Apprenticeship or Traineeship must be funded under the CTF’s Employer Grants program
The eligibility criteria are:
- Commercial accommodation when required to travel more than 100km (200km round trip) your residential address as recorded in WAAMS, based on the shortest possible road distance to the closest approved training venue.
- Private Accommodation providers will be considered only upon prior approval and payment by DTWD
- Only accommodation costs are covered. Sundries such as credit card fees, internet, linen, parking or food and beverages are not funded.
- Only nights required to attend training are funded
- All requirements of DTWD’s apprenticeship and traineeship policy must be met
How Much Can I Claim?
Eligible Apprentices and Trainees can claim up to $70 per training night, to a maximum of $1,400 per financial year.
For example:
Accommodation invoice | $160 per training night |
DTWD allowance | $100 per training night |
Difference | $60 per training night |
CTF allowance | $60 per training night |
Accommodation invoice | $190 per training night |
DTWD allowance | $100 per training night |
Difference | $90 per training night |
CTF allowance | $70 per training night |
How Do I claim?
Eligible Apprentices and Trainees can make a claim by emailing the following documents to info@ctf.wa.gov.au. Claims must be submitted within 90 days of the date of the last day of the training period.
Once you have lodged your Travel and Accommodation Allowance claim with DTWD, you will need to submit:
- A completed CTF Accommodation Allowance Claim Form download here
- Tax invoice from the accommodation provider
- Proof of payment
- Verification from the Registered Training Organisation of complete attendance during training
Please note: Our accommodation allowance is supplementary. The final amount of assistance to an eligible apprentice is based on the amount paid for the accommodation as per the invoice, less the amount of the allowance provided by DTWD and will not exceed $70 per training night’s accommodation. The CTF will liaise with DTWD to establish the DTWD payment for accommodation and by submitting this claim, you are providing your consent for us to request this information from DTWD in order to assess your claim.
